Objective: To describe the role of intelligence in mechatronics analytically. This is achieved through a survey of the constituents of computationally intelligent approaches and the applications in mechatronics are exemplified. To let the students be aware of tools that are radically different from the conventional ones, to describe when/how and why we need intelligence and how we implement it.
Content: Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Fuzzy Logic (FL), Genetic Algorithms (GA). The use of ANN, FL and GA in control, estimation, planning, diagnosis, imaging, and heuristic search methods.
